Hello Gorgeous

Let me say first that I do not have a green thumb. It's more like brown. I did not get the gardening abilities my parents possess. That being said.. picking flowers has been super hard for me. I've mention before we're going with a subtle color scheme going around the peacock feather. Do you know how hard it is to find flowers that aren't 80's prom dress teal?!

Anyway, here are some of my lovely ideas for my bouquet.. I love the dark purple calla lilies! Also, notice the feather in the bouquet? So subtle and I love it.

This is a close up of the calla lilies. I just love their depth! Not to mention they will look great with black bridesmaids dresses. I just hope it doesn't look like a funeral :)

And finally if I feel like abandoning all the the previous ideas. I found this gem. I like this one because it looks like they were just picked from a garden and thrown together.

Who knew picking flowers would be so hard?

Woah, This is Really Happening

I apologize to my 3 readers.. it's been FOREVER since I last blogged. We're finally in the 6 month stretch before the big wedding day! It's almost hard to believe. Some days I want it to hurry up and get here, other days I just want to sit and savor this time in my and H's relationship.

Since my last post, I had my second dress meeting with the fabulous "Kayne Gillaspie." He and I decided on the type of lace and the underlay for the dress. We also looked at my mom's train. It has a few age spots on it that will need to be replaced :(. I was really sad when I saw the brown spots..but no fear, Kayne assures me that I won't be able to tell a difference.

Here's the fabric swatch.

We tried to find a type of lace that comes close to matching my mom's dress. So we went with Alcenon.  It matches the lace on my mom's train perfectly! The fabric underneath will be silk-like.. in it's sheen but it's more heavy-duty to support the lace and beading on top. Keep in mind this lace is really white. The final dress will be dyed to be more of a champagne color.. to match my vintage train.

We're also going to  give it some "bling"  by adding Swarovski crystals. If it's up to me you'll be able to see the rhinestones in space, lol. I think that's why Kayne and I get along so well.. we both love rhinestones.

Here's a look at the detail. Kayne is also making my veil out of some of the leftover lace.

Here's the fashion genius at work. The measurement part literally had me sweating bullets. Keep in mind Kayne deals with Miss America -- ALL THE TIME.

Let's me honest, this clumsy Oklahoma girl is no where near beauty queen.. I'm more like Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality :).

Either way he seems to "humor" me. Since my dress is a corset it's hopefully going to suck in all that around the middle!

I go back for my "first fitting" sometime in February.Where I will get to see my dress for the first time!
